I am consumed with guilt
when I can't comprehend chemistry.
I am letting down Marie Curie,
I think. I think. I think.
She looms before me,
glowing hot
and I am in disgrace.
(I admire her scientific intellect
and bemoan what I am not)
Femininity knows no restriction
on mathematic intellect-
but yet I prove them all correct
when I'd rather read instead.
"Disgrace, Disgrace!"
Marie cries out, spitting mold that burns
But I can no more be like her
Than I can be a "girl."
Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia, is Bipolar. If that's not comforting on a weird geek-level, I don't know what is.

This is one of many older poems I'll be reposting because I like them. I'm taking this first day on my blog to say the tone for the following days, so its only fair that I add this too. Circa 2009.
